A 60-count cotton lawn handkerchief carrying a Joseon 'hwajodo' — flowers and birds — reduced to a single blue.
54cm square: folded it's a handkerchief, at the neck a scarf, opened and knotted a gift wrap. Thin and densely woven, so it disappears into a pocket.
Wrap a bottle of wine or a box of sweets and you can skip the gift paper entirely — untied, it stays behind as a handkerchief. The paired birds of 'hwajodo' mean harmony in marriage, which makes it a natural wedding gift.

- The source is 'hwajodo', the Joseon genre of flower-and-bird painting. Its birds always come in pairs. A pair meant a married couple side by side, which is why these were set up as wedding screens and hung in a bride's room.
- The large blooms beside them are peonies — in Joseon, the 'buguihwa', flower of wealth and honour. May the two of you be at peace, and may life be generous. Those two lines, said with a flower and a bird.
- Blossoms last days and birds leave. Knowing that is exactly why people painted them and hung them indoors. 'Hwajodo' was an attempt to hold a good season still.
- Few motifs carry a wedding meaning this plainly. For a newlywed home, or anywhere you'd wish two people a long time together — the pattern gives the toast for you.

- Items with creases that may have been made while shipping
