- Jade was scarce, so Goryeo potters found their blue in clay instead. The result was *bisaek* — celadon's soft, elusive green. A shade still hard to find in ceramics anywhere else.
- Inside the roundels on celadon, cranes fly among clouds. This is the *unhak* motif: cranes for longevity and quiet dignity, clouds for auspicious skies. A wish for a long, clear life, inscribed on a vessel.
- Joseon taste ran differently. Blue-and-white porcelain painted cobalt onto pure white and left the space around it empty — restraint as beauty. Peonies stand for prosperity, the character *su* (壽) for long life.
- Both patterns are framed by *yeouidumun*, the "as-you-wish" border that once ran around the rim of a bowl. Here it runs around the rim of the canopy.
- Most Korean ceramics live behind museum glass. This puts their color and their patterns into something you actually carry.

- Eight ribs, and you can see it. Most 3-fold umbrellas use six. More ribs mean a smoother curve when open — closer to a true circle, closer to the round body of a vessel. It's also why the pattern flows around the canopy instead of breaking at every fold.
- 99.9% UV protection, with a black blackout coating inside that stops radiant heat as well as light. Walking on asphalt at noon in August, the difference under this canopy is not subtle: the pale exterior throws light back, the dark interior absorbs the heat.
- About 98cm across when open — wide enough that your shoulders stay dry. Ultra-compact umbrellas are light, but in real rain your shoulders and bag get soaked. This folds to 32cm for a bag, then opens wide enough for two people walking close.
- Iron-and-FRP ribs that don't twist in wind. Strength was kept rather than traded away for grams. Sturdy ribs hold the fabric taut, and taut fabric is what keeps the pattern reading cleanly. Looking good and holding up turn out to be the same engineering.

- A curved ABS handle with a wood-grain finish: it reads like timber but never soaks up rain or humidity, and the hook shape lets it hang from your arm or a table edge.
- The pattern runs across the whole canopy. Rather than one large motif on a single panel, the elements are scattered over all eight, so no angle shows an empty face.
- The *yeouidu* border is lifted from where it belongs on the original vessels — around the foot and mouth of the pot. The motifs weren't just applied; they were placed where ceramics put them.
- A matching cover is included, cut from the same fabric, so the color and pattern stay visible when it's closed.
